VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)
The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is a unique code stamped on a car’s chassis, verifying its identity and history.
Common VIN locations:
- Dashboard – Near the windshield on the driver’s side.
- Door jamb – Inside the driver’s side door frame.
- Engine compartment – Often on the engine block.
- Under the spare wheel – In some cases, the VIN may also be located here.
Always verify the VIN and engine number match the logbook (V5C) to avoid fraud.
